Do you know that outsourcing work is an everyday occurrence for business people. Think about it. Not one person can do everything. You are either good at writing or you stink at it. You are great as a graphic designer or you are horrible. You were programmed and trained to specialize in certain areas. You developed your skill-set while in school and college so you could focus your attention in this one area, unless you have two specific specialties you have trained for.
What does this mean? When a company approaches you for an assignment, and he requires certain requirements to be met, often times those requirements may extend beyond what you are capable of doing. When this happens, it is time to outsource. Outsourcing is finding someone with equal or better skills in a particular field or interest that you don’t fit. This person can take over the duties you are unable to, for a set fee. Normally, when this type of arrangement is made, you charge the person a certain fee that will be a few dollars lower than the fee you received. This way you can get a small commission for getting the work in the first place.
Let’s use an example. You just got hired to create a website. The problem is the buyer wants a website with Java and PHP. You don’t know these languages. So what you do is agree to do the job anyway for, say $6000. Immediately, after securing the assignment, and getting the deposit, you find someone that knows Java and PHP, and hire that one to do the work for you. Since the original fee for the entire job was $6000, and most of the work involved is by means of Java and PHP, you agree to give the programmer $3000 and you make $3000 for getting the job.
The best part of outsourcing work is that the work can still get done, as there is someone that has the skills you lack to do the work. By outsourcing, you can focus on other more important activities, especially those you love to do, while the other person is doing the work you can’t do.
Outsourcing can be done for any field. Examples of areas where outsourcing is a regular occupation include programmers, article writers, and graphic designers. There are others, but you get the idea. The main concern is not to lose the project if you are able to outsource the work to someone else. This is what’s important and why outsourcing does have its benefits.
In order to take advantage of outsourcing, just go to places like Elance or Craiglist, and place an ad for the type of job you have. Within a short time frame, you will find people coming out of the woodwork, contacting you about your project. This is the way not only to find someone to help you, but you get to make a new friend, and someone to rely on for the future.
